Biocat (BioRegion of Catalonia Private Foundation / Fundació Privada BioRegió de Catalunya)
Biocat drives the growth of the healthcare innovation ecosystem in Catalonia, working to scale up and consolidate the sector, while generating a social and economic impact, and making the BioRegion of Catalonia an international benchmark. It was created in 2006 by the Government of Catalonia and Barcelona City Council as a public-private foundation and its governing bodies include representatives from all the sector stakeholders, public and private. From this neutral position within the ecosystem and as a strategic tool of the Government, Biocat focuses its efforts on developing programs to: accelerate the sector’s growth and competitiveness, facilitate access and adoption of innovation in the Catalan healthcare system, encourage upskilling and development of specialized talent, and boost projection of the BioRegion of Catalonia as one of the main healthcare innovation hubs in Europe. All with a goal shared by all the stakeholders in this strategic economic sector: to actively work to improve people’s health and quality of life. *
